  • Better Nine: Choose either front or back 9 (1/2 handicap).
  • Bingo Bango Bongo: A bingo is awarded to the player who first gets their ball onto the green. The player whose ball is closest to the pin after each player has played their ball onto the green wins the bango for that hole. A bongo goes to the player who first holes out.
  • Blind Partners: Scores draws for pairings after completion of play (Combined lowest net).
  • Chapman Best Ball: (Partners) Both players tee off. Each player hits partner's ball where it comes to rest from the tee. The ball in the best position alternately played by each partner into the hole.

  • Mutt and Jeff: Total scores on par 3's and par 5's (½ handicap).
  • Mystery Holes As Par: The Pro Shop designates 2 holes (18- Hole and 9-Hole) to count as "PAR" regardless of the actual score (No handicap).

Activity Descriptions & Guidelines

Winter Tournament

Sign-up is available in the Pro-shop for the Winter Tournament. Fee is $10. You can register anytime as long as you know......

It begins the first of November and ends the week before the Opening Breakfast in March of 2025. Your final posted handicap in November is used. Each participant must play two (2) complete 18 hole rounds from the Combo tees and two (2) complete 18 holes from the Yellow tees. These may be played in 9 hole increments, if desired. Play as many rounds as possible with the best 2 front 9's and the best 2 back 9's from each tee. These will be used to determine the winners. You must golf with a MLGA member, though she does not have to be in the Winter Tournament. Scorecards must be signed, dated and attested, and turned into the Pro Shop.

Ringer Card

Ringer committees will use the member’s handicap as of June 1st of the current season. Members will weekly record their scores on a Ringer Card when playing in their designated groups on Tuesday. By the end of the season the Ringer Card will reflect the best score you had on each hole for the season and a fantasy game with handicap is constructed to disburse the ringer funds in your designated group.  There is a pre-season registration fee of $4.

Hole-in-One

The Hole-in-One event is open to all Ladies Club members who have paid the Hole-in-One fee. Period of eligibility is from the Opening Breakfast through the day immediately prior to the opening breakfast of the next season. A Hole-in-One must be at McNary, be witnessed by another golfer, and be part of a completed nine or eighteen-hole round. It is not limited to “Day's Play.” If a temporary green and/or tee-box is used, the Hole-in-One will not qualify.   The total fund payout for a Hole-in-One is limited to $200 per year. If more than one person receives a Hole-in-One during the year the $200 will be divided among the winners. *In the event there is no winner for the year, the money will be carried over to the following year and added to the fees collected for the new season.

Reporting a Hole-in-One

1. Report the hole-in-one to the Pro Shop staff and turn in your signed and attested scorecard. They will report the hole-in-one to the newspaper

2. Complete a second scorecard, signed and attested, for the treasurer. Ask the Pro Shop staff to put this card in the Ladies Club bag in the Pro Shop.

3. Enter the hole-in-one in the Birdie Book.

Tee Usage

The 18-Hole group has elected to play from the red/yellow combo tees for Day’s Play for the 2024 Golf Season.  The 9-Hole group will continue to “Play it Forward” this season.  Each 9-Hole player needs to decide which tee box (combo or yellow) she will use and adjust her handicap accordingly.  Handicaps for the 9-Hole players will be adjusted for Day’s Play per OGA guidelines. Tournament rules will be the responsibility of that tournament’s chairperson as to tees played and handicapping.

Reminders

  • Each player should be familiar with USGA Rules of Golf. If you have questions, ask the Rules and Handicap Committee. All scores must be posted daily. You must play with your designated group to be eligible for Day's Play.
  • If you can't play, call the Pro Shop to cancel (503-393-4653). A two- stroke penalty will be assessed for being late for a tournament tee time.
  • The first time you break 100, 90, 80, (18-hole) or 55, 50, 45 (9- hole), on Day's Play, record the score information in the Birdie Book. Birdies, Eagles, and Holes-in-One should also be recorded in the Birdie Book.
  • Playing ready golf will keep things moving along and not hold up play for others. All players are asked to be especially mindful of maintaining speedy play. Any player delaying play will be asked to pick up at their maximum and be ineligible for Day's Play.  If your group is falling behind, send the first players that finish putting to tee off on the next hole.  Summer and winter rules are determined by the Pro Shop.

Handicap

9-Hole and 18-Hole members must carry a USGA Handicap. Tournament maximum handicap will be determined by the Tournament Chairperson. The 9-Hole group uses ½ of 18-hole handicap and rounds up.  If an 18-hole member plays 13 or more holes, but less than 18, or if a 9-hole member plays 7 or more holes, but less than 9, record the non-played holes by using the total of par for the non-played hole plus any handicap strokes to which you are entitled on the non-played holes. This is posting for handicap only. Post 9-hole scores as Front or Back even if you play two nines in a row (the same two nines) or even if you play them on different days. The software will compute all scores according to the USGA handicap system.
